The work arises from the exploration of fire as an ambivalent, destructive, and purifying force, capable of transforming matter and, symbolically, human interiority.
The three panels, charred using the ancient Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique, bear traces of combustion on their surfaces: the wood’s skin cracks and blackens, but leaves marks that are highlighted by the gold acrylic and gold leaf.
This visual and material contrast becomes a metaphor for an alchemical process: anger, initially blind and destructive, transforms into awareness, into heat that generates light.
In the dialogue between coal black, bright red, and luminous gold, fire is no longer just a symbol of ruin, but also of rebirth and enlightenment.
